The 1965 Mexican Grand Prix was not only the last race of the season, but also the last Formula 1 race with 1.5-liter displacement engines. The car that won this memorable event was Honda’s highly competitive RA272 racing machine, driven by veteran driver Richie Ginther.

Honda was the first Japanese automaker to compete in the F-1 Grand Prix race, and this was their first F-1 victory since competing in the 1964 German Grand Prix. Honda launched its RA271 in the 1964 season. Machine piloted by the young American driver Ronnie Bucknum. Although the RA271 occasionally showed a glimpse of its hidden potential, it failed to achieve any notable results. A daunting season led Honda to develop a much more integrated F-1 racing machine. After the 1964 season, Honda thoroughly improved the machine and renamed it the RA272. Its high-tech and powerful, transversely installed V-12-cylinder engine is said to produce an astonishing 220 hp more.

Richie Ginther joined the team early in the season, and his racing experience helped the team further refine the RA272. He finished 6th in the Belgian and Dutch GPs and finally won the Mexican victory on October 24, 1965. Ginthers RA272 took the lead shortly after the start and scored a perfect win without taking the top position for the entire race. Partner Bucknum also finished 5th and contributed to Honda’s racing laurels.

– From the striking body lines to the mechanical details, the shape of the car is captured in style.
– Includes a detailed representation of the V12 engine.
– As with the actual vehicle, the bonnet is divided into three parts.
– Two marking options are included.
