AD-4W Skyraider – Super Decal Sheet Included
The Douglas Skyraider was built soon after World War II. Despite its traditional piston engine, born when the first jets were already spreading, the Skyraider has had an extraordinary operational longevity. The first flight was made in 1945 and was withdrawn from active service only in 1975. It has participated in numerous conflicts proving its validity in Korea and Vietnam. Characterized by great maneuverability at low speed, it was able to carry an impressive war load of more than 3,500 Kg. Optimized for ground attack missions, it was equipped with robust armor to minimize the damage of enemy fire from the ground. From its robust airframe the “early warning” version AD-4W was developed. Built in over 150 specimens, and with a crew of 3 people (the pilot and two observers), it was characterized by the large radome and the adoption of search and acquisition / recognition systems of targets and transmission equipment.
