F-5F Tiger II (Twin Seater)
Developed in the early seventies by the American Northrop, as a direct evolution of its predecessor, the F-5E Tiger II is characterized by greater power, better maneuverability and better performance in air combat. Its real strength, however, was represented by the low purchase and management costs. Thanks to its cost-effectiveness it was chosen to equip the hunting units of numerous countries. Among these, the Swiss Air Force considered it suitable to meet the unique characteristics that the air defense of the Alpine country needed. It was also produced under license in Switzerland. The F-5F two-seat trainer was derived from the F-5E. Armed with a single M39 gun, it maintains the total operational capacity of the single-seater version.
