Jaguar XJ-S H.E. “1986 Bathurst 1000km Race”
The Jaguar XJS is a British sports car (so-called grand tourer) that was presented to the public in 1975. Its production lasted from 1975 to 1996 at Jaguar’s Coventry plant in Great Britain. About 115,000 copies of this car were built.
The XJS model was developed and put into production as the successor to the iconic E-type in the Jaguar line-up. It differed from its predecessor in almost everything. First of all, it was a grand-tourer, and therefore a properly sporty, high-performance limousine with a very high level of travel comfort. This fact was emphasized even more by the use of the body and many components from the Jaguar XJ limousine for the XJS model. The XJS model also had a completely new styling, clearly different to the E model. The propulsion was gasoline engines with a capacity of 3.6 to 6 liters and a maximum power of 180 to 320 hp. The car was offered in two main body types: convertible and coupe. The Jaguar XJS also enjoyed success as a sports car, especially in the 1980s.
